How Exams Written Under Pressure Differ from Other Essays
This reading has given me an insight in the world of essay exams; it made me feel more comfortable that so I won’t have to be afraid of essay exams anymore. I learned that when writing an essay exam your number one audience is your teacher so I have to make sure I translate some of the things they said clearly in my paper. Taking information storing them in, then analyzing them is the quickest way to have a great paper without wasting too much time and without getting extra anxiety over it. The three skills to essay exam writing are perfect examples that will lead you there, it includes:
1) The ability to store, access, and translate appropriate knowledge into and organized essay.
2) The ability to analyze quickly the specific requirements of and exam question and formulate a response to them.
3) The ability to deal with time pressure, text anxiety, and other logical constraints of the exam situation.
One of the most important thing that we have to do when preparing for an exam is “learning and remembering subject matter” (Allyn & Bacon 715) You don’t have to memorize everything you just have to make sure you find efficient ways to organize, recall, and construct. You also have to learn throughout the year how to remember main ideas, summaries, subtitles, highlighted terms, and listen for thesis statement. With all that in mind and being able to organize your own ideas with the facts, you will have prepared the right type of glue to hold your paper together.
